Tuff-N-Nuff is a Rockshield comprised of small diameter strands of flexible PVC forming a porous, no woven PVC mat. These strands are bonded to each other in a controlled random pattern during production. Tuff-N-Nuff protects pipeline coatings from direct impact during backfill operations. Tuff-N-Nuff also provides long term protection by keeping hard objects in the backfill from coming into contact with the pipe coating. Tuff-N-Nuff also protects the pipeline coating from these abrasive objects as lateral and longitudinal movements occur once the pipeline is placed into service. Tuff-N-Nuff does not shield cathodic protection and can be used for both steel & plastic pipelines. Specified for use as the preferred Rockshield by some of largest pipeline owners in the world.
Custom sizes available for every pipeline diameter size (xero waste). Optional Rapid-Edge hook and loop fastening system available providing quicker installation with less manpower. Laboratory and extensively field tested to protect FBE coated steel from rocky or harsh backfill material.
There is no other comparative Rockshield material with this 30 years of global heavy-duty protection case histories. Truly a unique material.
IMPACT STRENGTH - No failure @ 6" rock (ASTM G-130) (Modified). Test modified to include rocks which progress in size from 1.5", 3", 4" and 6", 10 drops each. Each drop consisted of released 50+ Ibs of stone from a height of 6" onto a fusion bonded epoxy coated steel plate protected by Tuff-N-Nuff. The FBE coated steel plate is visually inspected for holidays after each drop.
